Ancestor of the Defender, but usedeverywhere doesn't have the correct model name: Series-3 88
Roddy isn't pretty, but will go places most vehicles can't. Does tens-of-miles-per-hour: sometimes six of them, but not up-hill.
Bought new in Canada with left-hand steering.
2.25L gas 4cyl with 4-speed manual transmission.
High/ low range transfer case and Warn locking front hubs.
All aluminum body.
Roof is removable -- takes about an hour. windshield folds down too, if you're brave enough (last picture is of a similar vehicle in this configuration).
The frame looks almost new, and the paperwork suggests it is.
Heavy-duty roof rack.
This Land Rover is ready for you to have summer fun. I've been driving it almost daily for the past few months getting Roddy revived from a long rest, and he's running beautifully. Here's most of what I've done:
- all new fluids
- new water pump, thermostat, temp sensor, rad cap
- new Global Roamer billet transfer-case cover
- all new shift-lever boots
- Vanagon bucket seats
- new points, condenser, spark plugs.
- wheels are 5.5x16" Land Rover 109 station wagon wheels pn-272309
- new Bearmach fuel tank sending unit
- new mirrors
- new windshield wipers (windshield washer works)
- new flasher relay
...and more.
Caveat: this does not feel like a modern vehicle, and that's part of it's charm.
