Background on the team:
Panasonic was a professional Dutch cycling team formed in 1984 by team manager Peter Post when the TI-Raleigh Team split up. Most of the cyclists from TI-Raleigh showed their loyalty to Post and stayed on to ride with Panasonic, which was sponsored by the Japanese electronics manufacturer. During Panasonic's first 2 years, Raleigh continues to supply the team's bicycles. From 1987 to 1989, the team was co-sponsored by Isostar and later by Sportlife from 1990 to 1992. Team Pansonic consisted of many international riders who enjoyed much success, including Eric Vanderaerden, Phil Anderson, Viatcheslav Ekimov, Robert Millar, Olaf Ludwig, Jens Heppner, Maurizio Fondriest, and Eddy Planckaert. The team was extremely successful winning countless races.
